Nail polish collection

Today I had a massive clear out of all my nail varnishes. Honestly, it was a hard job, I had many desperate hoarder moments when I couldn't let go of unsalvageable polishes that are no longer produced. Shall I keep it as a momento? I kept telling myself. I was STRONG and chucked a butt load away!!

Here's what I kept.

The corals

The nudes

The reds

The pinks

The blues and shimmers

The randoms I found after taking pictures...

There is something that seems to have gone wrong with the focus of the pictures, I'm sorry! I know how annoying it is when pictures are blurry. I will try to upload better images soon.

Tips for polishes and manicures

  1. When painting nails, use thin coats and build it up instead of one thick coat.
  2. This relates to number one, In my experience, polishes that claim a one coat only formula is usually true however one thick coat means the polish is more likely to chip.
  3. Use a base coat, especially for strong colours. However, only apply one thin coat of base coat/strengthener, any more and the nail is more likely to snap off.
  4. Remove glitter polishes easily with express nail varnish remover pots (you know, the one where you swirl your finger around the sponge in the pot).
  5. Wear washing up gloves when doing any house hold water based cleaning. A lot of people think wearing nail varnish is what weakens the nails, this is not true, water weakens nails!
  6. In my experience, premium brands that specialise in nails  such as O.P.I, Essie and Nails inc have better formulas, are more chip resistant etc.
  7. Nails inc scores the least out of the three, as it tends to go gloopy quickly.
  8. When nail polishes goes gloopy  drop a few drops of non acetone polish remover to thin it. You can only do this so much before the formula turns too weak.
  9. W7 despite being cheap is actually a good copy cat of formula and colour against more premium brands.
  10. Again, another good dupe brand is NYC, especially for Essie colours.
  11. Revlon polishes and Deborah Lipman have the best brush and formula for manicures, being thin and precise.
  12. New Essie polishes now have a flat brush - CHANGE IT BACK ESSIE!
  13. Paul and Joe although have extremely beautiful packaging and design, however they are Japanese type formulas - milky and gelly like and not much pigment despite what you see in the bottle.

If you would like me to swatch any colour polish, please leave a comment below :)
